ia32e is the devil
October 28, 2004
OK, so the title might be a bit of an overstatement, but it did cause some mild insanity for me today.
The multilib code in yum 2.1.X works fine, provided you’re on something that is both a multilib arch and it is the key for the multilib arch.
It was silly, but I was making certain assumptions about how to do upgrades based on the structures in rpmUtils.arch.
Anyway - got it sorted and it’s now using the isMultiLibArch() function instead of looking at a dict in a silly way.
Thanks to Colin Walters and Thomas J. Baker for taking the patches I sent them and testing them on the actual systems (seeing as I have none of them)
And if anyone wants to buy me an ia32e(intel’s x86_64-compat chip) based machine I’ll be glad to make sure yum always works well on it. ![]()
